Default Green Replacement Filter

Guys,

I've been put off fitting an induction kit to my 2002 STi, with people telling me: a) Theres no point, and b) It'll trash the MAF sensor.

therefore i'm considering getting a Green Cotton replacement panel filter.

Wise move?
Any benefits performance wise?
Recommend something else?

Thanks for any advice/recommendations

Al
