Smile Hydra ECU @ Tracktive Solutions

I have a 1994 WRX and having played around with various ecu's over the years in an attempt to increase power including a W4, U8, Z4 and Scoobyecu, I recently decided to invest in a mappable ecu and went for the Hydra ecu mapped by ex WRC mapper, Richard Bulmer at Tracktive Soultions in Melton Mowbray.

If any of you want a recommendation for a new ecu, then I cannot recommend strongly enough to talk to Richard. My WRX is used for hillclimbing and the difference in performance and acceleration over an OEM ecu is staggering, albeit it was combined with various other modifications at the same time.

The Hydra ecu can be mapped for your specific car and your individual requirements. The cost is considerably less than a MOTEC or any of the other well known ecu's all of which I considered.

If anyone is thinking of an ecu upgrade you should certainly put the Hydra on your list and if anyone has any questions, having been through the experience of the upgrade and the results I will happily give you feedback.

£1,495 mapped and fitted inc VAT. This compares to £2,500+ for a MOTEC 800. You are of course paying for the mapping and the mapping is only as good as the mapper, hence why I went where I did with Richard's WRC mapping experience and being regarded as one of the best mappers in the business.

agree entirely, but was expecting it to be cheap with what you said, so GEMS, Autronics and Apexi are all cheaper

Thumbs up Hydra ecu

Just had my car into Tracktive and Carnetix for the Hydra ecu along with a vf34 and 540 injectors. What a difference!! I am pleased as punch with the results. Two fuel maps, one for 99 octane and one for 97 octane and anti-lag to boot! Hope to get it dyno'ed in a couple of weeks.

I got quoted £1395 plus VAT, and another £100 plus VAT if I wanted switchable anti-lag and launch (I know they'd be of little real-world use to me but it might be a bit of a laugh ).

I really fancy the Hydra tbh, but just couldn't justify the extra cost over the PowerFC
