Default actuator?

Hi, i asked the other day why my mates 94 wrx was shutting down (the hitting a brick wall thing). So i was told about the boos solinoid which i cleaned also took all the pipes off and cleaned them aswell. But it's still doing it, so my new question is:

How can you tell if the actuator has been fiddled with? Or how can i tell if it's still set at factory possition?

Any help would be good, thanks.
