Default Knocklink activity....MAF problem??

Occasionally (very) when accelerating, the Knocklink will give a single flash of all LED's. This has even happened without WOT.

One person suggested a possible MAF problem......likely?

The car is a 1998 UK car and otherwise runs fine. I have assumed dodgy fuel at times, as it only happens occasionally and at the same boost levels that have never caused any Knocklink activity previously.

If it's a possible MAF problem, I guess it's worth changing it out anyway eh?

Cheers

I have seen this on my 03 STi PPP One explanation could be that the ECU, under certain conditions - often part throttle acceleration in a high gear - will add ignition advance. When it detects the onset of det it will pull back the advance. Hence the brief flash of the leds.

Hi John,

Has your STI any mods other than PPP..?

Only asking as this seems to be quite a common occurrence on newage cars.

Adjust the CockLink so that you don't get the lights - thats the normal solution.

Failing that, throw the thing in the bin and just drive the car!!

Pete you definately have a over whelming hatered for "Knocklinks"? At the end of the day it is definately a personal decision. As you have said in previous slaggings of the "Knocklink", about having to calibrate them. But like everything that can be adjusted it all depends on how well it was set up in the first place as to how well it will do the job. If people fell happy with one then good for them.
Out of interest what is the next product to feel the wrath of "pslewis" then i can start a thread if no one else does. Have fun m8, steve
