STi panel filter, 12bhp and 15lbs of torque increase when changed from the factory item (though it was designed for my car )

There was an itg panel fitted to my car when I bought it. I went back to the OEM filter cause I was so un-impressed with the amount of 'gunk' in the filter to 'catch' dust/dirt etc. A bit like a sludge compound. I think it may even be the cause of a problem I have. I've now fitted a stainless steel cone filter. Works well, sounds the dogs.

I've heard bad things about steel mesh filters. Their filtration abilities aren't as good as cotton/paper filters and so might let more dust/dirt into the engine
