Default whats the best panel filter

any idea what the best panel filter is for a 2000 p1, ive come across apexi, and k&n, both similar price, is it safe to drop one of these in the standard air filter box, wont need to re-map?

or shall i just get a standard one from subaru? any idea on price?

thanks Nav

You want to use a dry filter to start with, not an oil filled one, so something like the STi panel filter which is a service item, ie you change it every 20k for a new one, they rate at about 45-55 quid new.

K&N pre-oiled filters that can affect the sensors etc.

On various cars I have worked on I have had good results from both the K+N or STi Panel filters.
I do not accept that an oiled K+N will lead to problems, another Scooby myth I think, unless of course when after 10-20K miles the person servicing the filter does not follow the instructions and overoils.

i understand that the sti panel needs to be replaced after 20k miles
but im more inclined to go for the sti one as i only do about 5k a year.
scoobymania seems to be the cheapest

Green are or used to pre-oiled cotton filters didn't they?

Never had any problems with K&N panel in my old notoriuosly weak MAF MY99.
Currently running a dry Zerosports in my newage and have a K&N ready to fit when the other is past its sell buy date
