Default Exhaust temp sensor

I had a decat downpipe fitted to my classic last week. As the temp sosnor couldn't be removed undamaged, it's now not connected. Is this required? It runs fine (well, great actually), and there's no CEL, but don't want to take any risks (though I've no doubt they'll be stupid money!)

Thanks

I have a TSL group N downpipe on my classic, the downpipe doesn't have provision for the sensor. I disconnected it and car runs perfect, all it does is illuminate the cat is very warm light as you dont have a cat it is now redundant. As far as I know it doesn't provide an input to the ECU.
