Default engine spluttering/misfire? cat warning light?

Hi folks - this morning my 93 wrx started spluttering slightly when accelerating, put this down to needing a service and possible plugs, just gone to nip out - car was really hard to start would start then die straight away, you can hear a clicking from a relay and the cat warning light? was flashing with the relay.

Please can anyone help

Phil

Not got a clue but as no-one else has replied I'll give you a free BTTT and this:

1. Coil pack loose / knackered?
2. Injector connector loose / fallen off?
3. MAF connector loose / fallen off?
4. Dirty / loose spark plugs?
5. Boost pipe or other tube blown off?
6. EGT sensor loose or connector off?

Good luck checking this lot in the cold! Anyway, hopefully someone with more (any) experience of your car's year will turn up ..

is there any way to find out if it is the maf before I get one - have heard if you remove it when the car is running , if it stalls maf is ok - if it carries on running maf is cabbaged?

your plugs should come allready gaped to 0.7mm i think. i won a 93 wrx and have been having some problems of my own. id chesk all your coil packs carefuly. remove the rubber insulators and look for cracks in the ends.

have you read the ecu for any fault codes?
