Default Need Uprated Injectors For 1997 JDM Ver 3 STi

Hi Guys,

I have a friend here who has a 1997 JDM STi, Ver 3 I think. He needs larger injectors, but is unsure what to buy, and has already bought one set that didn't fit. Can anyone please point me to websites, sellers etc. for any uprated injectors available specifically for the car.

Thanks,

Dennis

Has he up rated the fuel pump yet ?

Depending on how much power your friend wants, it may be a case of increasing his fuel pressure, using an adjustable reg'.

STi3 has 440cc injectors, good for circa 350bhp.

The next step would be 550's, which are good for circa 400bhp.

As Catxxxxxx said, most of the bigger injectors are for the later fuel rails, and require adapters, which are readily available.

Thanks for the info

Yes, the fuel pump is uprated, but too much of a fuel pressure increase would be needed. I'd say he should have at least 600cc/min for a nice injection duration. To get that on pressure, starting at 40 psi (2.75 bar) base, he would need to increase the pressure to 75 psi (5.2 bar), which means at 20 psi (1.4 bar) boost, he'd have 95 psi (6.5 bar) of fuel pressure, which may be a tad too high

Again, thanks for the info guys, it's appreciated.

It doesn't work like that. The whole idea of the fuel pressure regulator, is to maintain the fuel pressure the injectors see. So with the reg' set to EG: 4bar/58psi at atmospheric, and 1.4bar/20psi boost, the pump will be working at 5.4bar/78psi, but the injectors will only see 4bar.

This is because you need to take into account the pressure in the intake manifold working against the pressure in the fuel rails.

For reference, the 550's will give circa 580cc at 4 bar fuel pressure.

I believe Power Enterprise do a 660cc, but they are expensive. The next step is either 740's, or modified 550's, which give 800cc.

What power is your friend aiming for, and on what turbo ?
