Default Loss of power

Hi, my mates Legacy turbo has lost alot of power and doesn't sound right, like its missing. Could the limp home mode have kicked in. The check engine light isn't on. He recently had a full subaru service, could a coil pack have broken down or a plug gone. How do you check if the limp mode is activated. Any suggestions, thanks.

What I would do is this,
Check all hoses etc make sure they are connected and secure.

if limp mode is on then the chances are it has thrown a CEL (check engine light), depending on the age of the car, it may have some connectors under the steering wheel quite high up, 2 green and 2 black. by connecting these you can reset the ecu and also read any error codes (usually sensors that have failed). First thing first I would let the car idle and then disconnect the maf. If the car continues to run then there is a fair possibility that the maf has gone. If it stalls, I would reset the ecu, go for a test drive and see if the problem occurs again. If it does, I would then see if there are any error codes

Finally if nothing is detected whilst error checking, then I would remove the coil packs and if neccessary the plugs as well.
