Default HKS GT2835 Twin Scroll Bolt-on

Has any body tried the HKS GT2835 twin scroll bolt-on for JDM twin scroll STIs?

Image below...

I'm trying to choose between this and the PE1825.

I heard that the GT2835 supports 400PS @ 0.9bar boost, but I can't find anything on the web that backs that up. If this is indeed true, it will have more power potential than the PE1825 as that is rated as 400PS @ 1.3bar boost.

Regardless, I would take the Garrett, because the PE turbo will be IHI based, and far more limiting if you wanted to modify it later.

I have a GT28/35 on my STI RA. Excellent turbo, fitted and mapped by Paul @ Zen who was very impressed with it. I have not had it on a rolling road as yet but I would expect it to hit my target of 400bhp. I don't know about the 400 @ 0.9 bar. Mine is mapped to 1.8 bar and car flys

It is expensive compared to say the 20g as you need a custom up-pipe, think the whole kit is about £2000.

More info here and comparison to other units - http://ztechz.net/id4.html

I have the PE1825 turbo on my 94 classic, I have achieved 360bhp and 380 lb torque. at 1.5 bar peak and 1.3 held, any more will result in surge. I would defo go for something bigger myself as this is about its limits.

This pe1825 turbo would problably make more on an sti 8 making use of AVCS system.

I am also concidering upgrading to a garret twin scroll turbo, and this one looks very good.

I have also found a nice looking set of aftermarket twin scroll headers from GT-spec, and also fujitsubo do one. But these are not cheep, but Im sure would make a big difference ovre stock manifold.

There are two of us in South Africa who have recently fitted a GT2835 Twin scroll.
Mine is on an 2L Sti7 (bug eye), TMIC, the other on a 2.2L Sti8, FMIC.

Power at the top is impressive but takes a long time to spool up (from 3000-4500RPM). See more comments at http://www.socsa.org.za/forums/showt...?t=1158&page=2.

I am curious if anybody else in this 'neck-of-the-woods' has fitted one and how they have dealt with the comparatively slow spool up. .

axelhols, is your friends name Mike?

Aqua Japan sent me a dyno of the GT2835 twin scroll on a 2.2L stroker with HKS 272 cams with V-Con Pro:

You can see it is making 400NM by 3500RPM, 390WHP is pretty impressive...

I'd say the lagginess can be much improved by playing with AVCS or variable cam timing on the HKS cams...

Yes that is Mike from Johannesburg and AFAIK he had his cams changed to HKS as well. But I also hear that changing the AVCS timing only produced marginal results on a chassis dyno.

My 2L engine is still standard but I have fitted an Apexi AVCR boost controller which provides for a much smoother spool up and for more control in the lower RPM range. No time yet for a Dyno run with my new BC.

Is the HKS Twin-Scroll 2530 a ball-bearing turbo? What is the inlet size? 2.4" which is stock or larger?

AFAIK - the HKS is really a twin entry not a twin scroll turbo

Bang on. The 2835 is a single-scroll, twin entry turbo.
