Default Pipercross Viper - Good for 400bhp?

As per title.

A) I know induction kits contribute to MAF failures. It will not be oiled, it will be bracketed accordingly.

B) I have to have an induction kit - FMIC

C) I've chosen the Viper as it's enclosed and lightweight (will replace the HKS).

I'll soon be looking at 550cc injectors and TDO5 20G and the RA might get somewhere near 400bhp.

Q - Will the PX Viper be good for 400bhp?

Thanks - I hope you can help because it'll be fitted next week and there's no point if it'll proove restrictive.

Cheers

J

Regards the APS, it might be an idea but I've already paid for the Viper and have sorted modified FMIC pipes to fit it.

Basically I was looking through search/Viper and somebody mentioned they weren't good for 400bhp. If they aren't, I'll cut my loses.

How did you find the set-up by the way? My Gearbox was rebuilt about 4k miles ago. Is it likely to pop?

my gearbox lasted great with just the induction kit as im pretty kind to it. then i added an inlet pipe and aa APS cold air kit and one week later BANG but the difference in acceleration was very noticeable

Thanks for your PM.
I have no direct experience of the Viper but from looking at it I doubt it is a 400 bhp filter. Also the K+N filter supplied with the APS cold air kit becomes a restriction around 400 bhp.
For 400 bhp you want the biggest K+N filter that will fit in the space you have available and you need to isolate the filter and intake air from the effect of the warm engine bay.
There is more to a filter than just the air flow it will permit. The ability to filter down to low microns is equally important for engine life and MAF life.
If it is a K+N oiled filter which comes pre oiled, follow the instructions carefully when you come to service it, do not over oil and it will not effect MAF life.

FYI 550cc injectors on a Classic are nearly maxed out at standard fuel pressure at 400 bhp.
