Default cambelt change

Normally i would of used the seach for this but its gone!!!

When does this need to be done on a 2001 bugeye WRX?

I was under the impression that it was 45k on a classic, and bugeye onwards 60k

Is this correct?

Cheers,

Bri

I would never leave it that long after all it is only a piece of reinforced rubber strap which will deteriorate with age & not just mileage, so if your towards 45k i would get it changed

just need to know weather they were different intervals with classic and newage cambelt changes.

From the previous threads on this subject, it varies depending on what handbook you have... my 01 WRX book says 60k or 4 years, so really you should be doing it now regardless of the miles...

I suspect you'll find that it is actually the same part no, therefore it's the same belt.... so i'd say change it sooner myself.,....

Exclamation

I wonder if you are fitting a belt or full kit with rollers etc?
With these short cambelt intervals on scoobies, unless you know the history then you may be in for some surprises from duff or siezing rollers.

Just had the A3T belt done at a mates garage, the belt was in excellent shape (110k interval on '98 A3T!!) but two of the rollers were shagged badly. Now they have been replaced the whole poweplant is so much quieter all round. I guess you dont notice the gradual increases over months.

Not long before siezure and likely belt stripping, skipping by the looks of things - I was lucky!

Worth bearing in mind - check the rollers, tensioners and don't scrimp!
