Default 3rd Gear + Vent question

I've hadn't driven the WRX since Saturday, and I drove again today (Tuesday), it didn't feel to have its normal pull, so I thought, ok, let it really warm up, so then 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th had great pull, though 3rd gear seemed to be missing the same good amount of pull as the other gears. Could this be because it hasn't been driven for a few days?? or could it be something else?.

On my 1994 import, the plastic vents on both sides of the bonnet, well underneath they are blocked off with covers? surely the vents are there to let the hot air escape the engine bay, so why are they blocked off, I thought I'd take the covers off, is this wise?

Hope someone could help
Cheers!!

Both of the vents are blocked on all classics. If you take them off then you will run the risk of water getting into the engine bay and damaging components

So you reckon I should put the covers back on?

Will it help keep the engine cooler or is it not worth it?

Any ideas on my 3rd gear problem, feel like 3rd hasn't got the good umph as the other gears!?
