Default Overboosting at 0.8bar ???????

My car seems to be hitting the fuel cut, but I'm only boosting at 0.8 bar ????

I can run through the gears, 1, 2, then usually 3rd or 4th there's a violent jerk. I'm sure it's the factory ECU setting cutting the fuel?

How could this be? Surely this shouldn't be happening if I'm only boosting at 0.8 bar?????????

Taking to AS Performance in a few days for it's 1000 mile service, I'll get Alyn to have a look, just wondering what you were all thinking!!!!?

Cheers, , Nick.

Had a problem where my old scoob wasnt producing the right boost, down to a clogged solenoid, try that first

It's a WRX STI Version 2 (MY96).

It's just had an engine rebuild and the boost solinoid was cleaned then (1000 miles ago)

I've checked the ECU and it's a 6K, which I believe is the correct one!!!!

Anyone??

STI360 -

What are you going to do next????

I don't want to just fit an HKS FCD as this will just mask the problem!

i had a u8 in my car so i changed that for a z4
cleaned maf, cleaned solenoid and checked oil level
have no cats in place
the sometimes goes like stink and i love it but others not so good,
so i think the answer is to get a electronic boost control and get ride of my solenoid
what do you think

be very careful Nick as the car only has a poor quality oil in for "running in"!!!

it will not do it any good to be holding boost

Mine too, sometimes it boosts fully at 1.0 - 1.1 bar and goes like stink! 80% of the time it only boosts at 0.8bar??????????????

I think that I've got the right ECU (6K) for the model and year of my scooby.

Was thinking of getting a Power FC from Andy.f, but I'd need the 3 bar map sensor and a fast acting 3 port solenoid valve as well. All in it would be around £950.

I would prefer the PFC of course, but, a fuel cut defencer and a dawes device would be a lot cheaper!!!!!!

Can't understand why it's cutting the fuel at 0.8bar????????????????

OK Alyn,

I've only tried it a few times, try not to use boost at all until you've fully checked it!!!

I'll give you a bell tomorrow!

Nick.

Just checked - http://www.jprova.co.jp/product/engine/ecu.html

My ECU is the correct 1 (6K) for the model!!!

As in my other thread - think it might be to do with the 3" downpipe!

How can I get around this?

yeah that is the right ecu i should of had one of them but i didnt,
i also have a 3" downpipe but i dont see why that would make the boost vary

I've been told before that with some cars the 3" downpipe creates overboost. Some Scoobs are OK and others suffer!?

Anybody know why???

Thanks, Nick.

Would an Apexi AVCR control my boost? I've heard I can only put my boost to 1.1bar due to the maximum boost setting of the ECU. Would an AVCR allow me to boost at 1.2 bar??????

thanks!
