Default Oil sump

Could anyone tell me if it is a simple task to change the sump on MY98 Impreza, mine is leaking like a sieve, got a price for a new one of £78 + vat from Subaru Jennings and I would rather do it myself if it's not too bad a job.

easy enough if you can get the engine up high enough , once the engine mount nuts are off. make sure you do not use too much sealant when fitting the new one.

Can you see where it's leaking from ? Is it actually the sump, or where it seals to the block ? Or could it be something else, such as the rear crank seal ?

It's a naff job to do in situ'.

Mark.

It's gotta be almost easier to remove the engine to do it rather that f4rt around trying to get it done in situ..... you'd have to raise the motor so far, it might aswell come out......
