how restrictive is a prodrive backbox??
ive got a full scoobyworld decat exhaust on my my00 but it was to load for me,it had a horrible rasping noise to it so ive replaced the ninja backbox with a prodrive bb and it feels a bit slugish now and not as qwick. im booked in for a remap soon and i want as much power as i can get ouy of my decat. will this prodrive backbox restrict any bhp do u think?? the sound of it now is perfict for me. nice deep rumble but not to load. any advise is apreciated.

If you look inside the Prodrive BB you'll see it's straight, only the noise absorbing material and design make it quieter!
Of course when I changed from Scoobysport to Prodrive backbox I had exactly the same power measured with DD.

They appear very similar looking from the outside in. The Prodrive box has a little silencing section in the tailpipe which probably does next to nothing.
The STi has two plates inside it parallel to the end plates with, IIRC, a 2" perforated tube linking the two.
As for restriction, i run an Sti silencer on mine which gave 507bhp/530Ib ft.
Changing the silencer to a full 3" bore, which made the car really loud, the car ended up with 525bhp/560Ib ft, a gain of some 30Ib ft, but power level overall was greatly improved, it's not just about peak numbers.
A bit of an extreme example granted, but provides a little thought provoking as regards to how restrictive an exhaust can be.
Me, i prefer to lose that bit of power for the quietness the Sti gives. You can go about your business without the stares and tuts of disapproval from other drivers.
