EGT sensor on newage WRX
Im currently putting a decat up pipe on my WRX bugeye. What happens with the EGT sensor? Can it go back into the new pipe, or does it need to have a CEL fix carried out? Or, can it be left tied back loose in the engine bay?

cliff,
If you leave the sensor out it will throw up a cell light.I had problems with an egt sensor and ended up blanking off the hole in the uppipe and doing a cell fix with a 2.2 ohm resistor if you do a search you will find out how it is done.

Better to use the EGT sensor in your new up-pipe, it is there from the factory for some reason (more than supporting the up pipe catalyst efficiency/situation that many people believe) do you think?
Of course you can fit it in your downpipe if there is any hole available otherwise if you plan to use the resistor fix method check first your car in extreme conditions with DeltaDash or Subaru "select monitor" for high EGTs.
Better safe than sorry!

You will find with a decat uppipe that you get more direct exhaust pressure on the egt sensor causing it to snap this happened twice with me luckily it didnt get pushed up through the turbo thats why I opted for the resistor fix.
