Default speedo cable & 33 fault

Hi, driving home last night along the motorway my speedo needle fell to zero shortly followed by the ecl comming on. The car then went into limp home mode (ie will not rev above 4,500).

I checked the fault code this morning and it brought up a 33 vechicle speed sensor. I checked that the speedo cable is still attached to the geardox and the back of the clocks and everything seems fine there.

has this happened to anyone else?

I'm assuming that the speedo failing and the 33 code are linked, but does anyone know if i need a new cable or cable drive unit for the gearbox or both?

does anyone have a speedo cable and/or speedo drive unit for a 1995 sti they would be willing to sell?

Cheers!

Hi had same problem, and is definately speedo cable/converter into gearbox that is at fault.
Have it re fitted/renewed and all will be OK.
Neil.
