Default Urgnet Help (Head Gaskets)

Just incase people only read this bit and not the general ill post again just as im in despirate need for help or advise

basically a week ago my Rad sprung a leak 5 minutes from my house, after filling up the bottle with water, and tapping it up as much as possible i drove slowly for the five minutes home, hoping this would be ok but turned out to be a very bad move

Ive got no compression and the car wont start ovb. So blown a head gasket or even both i dont know untill we take the engine apart but how much am i looking at to get it back on the road, and who are good people to speak to for advise, and doing the work itself

Am i right in thinkin this is a rough idea :

500 quid if its just the headgasket and no other damage

1600 quid for a standard engine rebuild ? (if damage is done)

are they riight rough prices? how much am i looking at for a bullet proof engine, and a bases to gain 400bhp and run it relably ?

Sorry for the chavish word 'quid' i have no pounds symbol for some reason :P

Thank you very much for any help, im in despirate need of it

You are about right for thr the costs.
IF you gaskets are gone (do not assume they are) then I would suggest you talk to David at www.apiengines.com They do about 5 engines a week so are good. (I had my gaskets done there)
David will guide you through all the options they offer.

He is a clear no bull**** man and has a sky high reputation.
They are based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.
Graham.

I am speaking to him at the moment he is a great help also, appears i have a big dicscion to make with what to do, either simple rebuild and not as long to do, or full rebuild, and extra power, but ovb means more time and money. Or gamble on a engine from the scrapyard or ebay
