Windscreen Wiper Play..
Hi all
i have a small niggly problem thats annoying me a bit.
my front wipers seem to have a lot of play and when in use seem to either goto far down and hit the part below the windscreen or to high and hit the winscreen rubber on the pillar. when at rest they sometimes rest about 2inches above where they used to and other times goto the correct place. when in correct place i can move them a good 2inches easy. as when going a bit quick they suddenly jump out of the correct position to a higher position blocking my view of the scoop.
is this a common problem, its a my98 uk turbo wagon. and how can i sort it?
embarressing when u have passengers, starts to rain, put on wipers and it clunk clunk clunk!
Thanks
Rich

At the root of the wiper arms there is a squishy rubber dome thing (you might need to lift the bonnet to see this), pop this off, move wipers to desired 'home' position, tighten the nut (12 or 14mm as I recall) and replace the squishy dome

Hi everyone,i had the same problem and its the white plastic socket that the wiper linkage connects to the ball on the wiper motor,i bought the complete linkage from a scrappy for about £10 and it solved the problem, fitted it myself in half hour

Yep did this on a mate Scoob.
The white plastic socket was totally shot!!
You need the 2 ali link arms with sockets on the end (the passenger side one onto the motor is quite awkward)
