TD05 Porting questions?
Hi guys, Got a few TD05's which I'm converting to front entry and will pick best one to go on my car of cause. I am curious about porting, is anyone out there knowledgable on the subject, what to do, recomend a web site or book, etc and please use plain english as I am a complete novice in this particular field.
I'm an engineer buy trade and have access to most tools to do it, and fancy having a go!
Let me know if i'm foolish and neive?
cheers, Hans.

There's not a great deal you can do, that's worth while, but you can match the intake side to the gasket, as there's normally quite a big step.
Generally you can see this, by a sooty ring, but use a gasket and scribe round. Then take it out to the line at the mating surface, and blend into the intake throat. Don't go too mad !
It's not worth porting the waste gate on a 2.0lt, only on larger engines, where they suffer from boost creep.
Mark.

Boost creep, is caused by the waste gate (and or turbo) being too small for the application, and not being able to dump exhaust gas pressure, to lower boost, to the mapped boost level.
So even if you were to disconnect the boost pipe, boost would run higher than actuator pressure, to varying degree's, depending on turbo/engine combination.
