Default Engine Check warning light

Hi,

I have a 00MY classic shape Impreza. When I was driving earlier the "Check Engine" warning light appeared for a few seconds then disappeared and appeared again for a few seconds. It hasn't happened again since, should I get this checked out, or just see if it happens again. Bizarrely, and this may just be my imagination, the car feels really responsive since, almost as if it was a few bhp down before and something has been reset!

Any advice?

Cheers.

There are many threads on snet about this including how to do a self diagnostic test. My old one did this and this revealled faulty MAF and knock link sensors - a common problem on these cars I think. It is relatively cheap to repair.
