Default Can a disintegrated clutch stop the engine cranking?

As title really, i believe the clutch destroyed itself which doing a hefty 15mph this morning on the way to work but it broke and the engine stopped instantly.....and now will not start.

It will also not turn if you push the car in gear (a-la jump start) so can only presume something is blocking the engine from turning....and the only logical thing is the clutch.

Any further ideas?

Most likely thing.

Does the gears still select 1-5?

Could be internal engine too. Only way to find out is by taking the gearbox off to have a look.

gears do still select yeah.

the ironic thing being the clutch was due to be changed next saturday.....

i dont think its anything internal engine wise, there is no oil pissing out or anything like that at least.

sounds like centre plate has gone on the clutch. will allow you to select gears, as the input shaft for the box is never spinning, due to having no friction on the flywheel. Depending on how bad it has gone, it could have splattered bits about, jamming flywheel.

Thanks all,

Got it booked in for new clutch fitting and flywheel on tuesday

I just hope the force of the engine having to stop like that hasnt done any more damage!
