Default WHICH TURBO DO I NEED?

Hi, Looking to take car a bit further. back in June i took the car to 350bhp and 310 lb/ft torque on clive atthowes rollers. Now need some advice as to what i need to do next to get towards 400bhp. Haven't done any internal work yet, but after a bit of research i see that 400bhp is capable on standard internals providing things are done properly. car in question is my94 wrx. 65k on the clock. i know the turbo is now maxed and also the injectors (440's). Should i be looking at a hybrid turbo like the 18g or 20g or something else like a garrett. with injectors 550's, 740's?

any advise would be greatly appreciated.

mods so far. if it's any help.

HYBRID FMIC
H&S DECAT SYSTEM (OPEN NECK)
MEGAN HEADERS (WRAPPED)
PORTED EXHAUST HOUSING ON TD05
BLITZ SUS FILTER
440'S INJECTORS
PERFORMANCE SX FUEL REG
WALBRO PUMP
SCOOBYECU CUSTOM MAPPED (DELBOY )
APEXI AVC-R

Thanks in advance
Rob

A td05 20g running on optimax plus booster should give you 400bhp and you will also require 550cc injectors.

If you speak to andy f, he supplies 20g turbos and will be able to answer any questions you have about these turbos.

Im in the same boat as you with simular power ( 348/330 ) and spec, but I allready have 550 injectors.
Im told the 20G is better suited to cars with an 8000rpm rev limit and the 18G for cars with a 7000rpm limit.
Problem is you wont get 400 from an 18G, Probably more like 370, 380 if your lucky.
I dont really want to pay out that much for 20odd bhp so I am still tempted by the 20G.
However I have heard the 20G can be quite laggy on a 2litre motor so will probably make a slower everyday car than the 16G thats on it now!!
The 18G has simular spool/lag to the 16G but with a better top end..

decisions decisions.

Any other views on this ??

Have you converted to front entry as a 94 car is top entry to the turbo. Dont know if this may hinder you getting 400bhp

thanks for your opinon, but converting to front entry on its own, will not help with any more power, the 16g will not flow any more air.

anyone else?

If your keeping standard internals I would probably opt for the td05/20g if you want a cheap Turbo
May not give you 400bhp - but it feels faster on the road!!

do u have one of these fitted to your car? if so, do u suffer from lag? very interested to hear from people who have 20g's fitted with 2 litre lump.

lag bothers me alot, i was a little concerned when i fitted front mount i/c and it did make it a fair bit laggy compared to tmic.

do u suffer from surging?

cheers
