How to wire in a universal lambda to a MY00 ?
Help !
How does one wire in a 4 wire (2 white, 1 Grey, 1 Black) universal bosch lambda sensor ? to a MY00 ?
The std scooby plug has 3 wires attached to it, the OEM Lambda has 3 wires, 2 white and a black, so all I did was match up to this thinking all will be well and left the grey wire of the universal well tucked up (its supposedly an earth)
Well the car is fine for a few minutes after a while it gets all rough until 3krpm
+ . I presume due to a change from closed to open loop, grounding the exhaust pipe to the engine block didnt do anything, my thinking was that with the grey disconnected the sensor doesnt get enough voltage to actually work properly but this doesnt seem to be the case
I have searched and havent found a conclusive answer, all help needed !

You have to earth the Grey wire (to battery -ve terminal is best)
Std sensor earths through the exhaust, but this is often a bad earth.
Lamda's work on very small voltages so good earth is imperative. Hence the 4 wire sensors are considered better by some as they can be earthed straight to the battery!
