best turbo for 400bhp?
just wondering which is the best turbo to put on my 97 type r that will take around 400bhp as its got an ihi turbo on at the moment and the car is pushing 334bhp with the wrong fueling so bigger injectors,fuel pump and a new turbo on there way (just fitting exual length headers and new up pipe as well) also looking at fittinf an afm from a skyline which is 10 mm bigger than standard its a q45 i think which some tuners in japan are putting on there cars.

You will also need to consider intercooling to achieve 400bhp. I'd recommend a mimimum of an Sti7-9 top mount or a front mount. The Air flow meter on your car is not a restriction at this level but the std airbox may begin to be.
Regarding a turbo, the TD05-20G will make "around 400bhp" Results of 360-440bhp have been achieved depending on the spec and fuel octane.

Dare I suggest you look at the various threads on Projects, as it has all been detailed there.
I run an AndyF turbo with several supporting mods which resulted in a RR result of 407 x 340 engine.
AndyF TD05 20g
550cc injectors and walbro pump with SX regulator + parallel fuel line mod
Optimax with full dose of NF booster
Apexi Fc ECU with AndyF map
Engine breather mod
Gruppe S headers and flex up/pipe
3'' decat down pipe and system
Stock inlet tract/MAF with Green Cotton filter
Cold air from inner front wing, all air vents cut open to max air to inlet
Sti V8 TMIC
The engine is a stock Sti V3

The turbo can muster (iirc)
1.1 bar at 3500
1.4 @ 4000 through 6000
1.2 @ 6000 to 6.5
1.1 @ 6.5 ish on
I have seen a peak on the FC of 1.5 once (lovely cold day and 'caight' the turbo just right in third...wow!)
