can i ask, ive noticed my car is very whirry on lock and on hard ish turn, when i rev the car

could this be the powersteering pump out, or on the way out, steering dosen't feel heavier or at least any different to normal.

Just the whirring noise is bothering me a bit, this is not the usual whine, more loud, not engine though as its much more pronounced in the cabin??

anyone got any ideas

how much is a new one out of interest

 

Sorry to point out the obvious - but have you cheked the level?

They do make a slight noise on full lock, just ease off slightly

 

if you have moved anything nearby that could have disturbed the pump i have read on here that can cause minor leaks. Mine was actually doing the same, thought it may have been gearbox as it eventually started doing it without any steering input. Checked the fluid and I could see fluid there and also it was a bit above min. I added extra anyway (nearly 2 full bottles) and it seemed to take an age to actually change the level (think the system must have been nearly dry!) Anyway what im saying is obviously check your level, even if it registers on the dipstick, add a bit more. (I found my leak when I changed my downpipe a few weeks later, only a small leak but over time)
