Default external wastegate

been offered a external wastegate turbo dose this raise issues as far as fitting and dose it mean you have to adapt the turbo setup any answers would have to be put in simple terms as i am a simpleton as far as turbos are concerned

right i now understand external wastegates so how would it be fitted a turbo setup

It will require custom up, and down pipes, and an external waste gate.

Just how much power are you looking for, because IMHO, it's not worth looking at that type of set up, unless you are aiming for 450bhp +

What turbo have you been offered ?

Momentum EJ5-50T Turbo Charger not he 40t it flows 810cfm it is a brand new model and is just being tested as we speak and will be available very very soon

It will be interesting to see the results. Biggest problem with big power bolt on turbo's, is the space limitation on the compressor cover.

So for example, even though we may take a 500bhp GT series ball bearing core, fit it into a small cover, and it's flow will be greatly reduced.

Take the GT30R, with an AR .60 cover, it's a 500-520bhp turbo. Fit a .70 AR cover, and it will make 550-570bhp !!!

Trying to get a real 500bhp out of a bolt on, on pump fuel, is VERY hard work.
