It's mounted on the top of the inlet manifold just of center, it's the black box that the four HT leads come out of.

What about on a MY96 folks?

Are they on the 'sides' of the engine (in the top of the rocker covers)?

And an even dafter question - where are the spark plugs? - do the coil packs replace the need for them? (<<i heard this was so on some kind of old weird and wonderful mazda engine - don't think it was rotary) or are they under the coil packs?

Sorry if i sound dumb folks, only this is my first car with coil packs, and i know the MY98-ish versions had HT leads, mine blummin dos'nt lol.

On a 1996 (and on the newage cars), you have four coil packs. They sit directly on top of the spark plugs (coil on plug). No need for a HT lead with this system. All petrol engines need a spark plug to function.

And as you say, the plugs are located 'in the sides' of the engine. Two in each side as it is a flat four configuration.
