Default Correct Oil For MY03 WRX

Hi guys,

Sorry I am sure this has been asked, but I could not find it

Can you advise the correct oil type for a MY03 WRX with PPP?

It's just that I am due to buy one soon and would like to know in advance.

Also, can someone tell me how often it needs checked/replaced?

Many thanks

Read the manual then or ring your dealer...much more helpful

More accurate too, as you are GUARANTEED to get somebody on here reccomending oil suited to a OLD shape Impreza....which specifies different (thicker) oils than what is listed as suitable for your car.

For what its worth...and in fear of sparking "yet another oil debate" OATS actually specify 5w-30 oil for your year of car. But people will cry out like mad and say that is too thin

I have the same spec car as you and I use Silkolene ProS 5W40. Tried 10W50 but I found it too thick on start-up. Also worth considering are Motul 300V and Millers fully synthetic. All can be had for good prices mail order with next day delivery from www.opieoils.co.uk Simon from Opie posts on here as oilman and is always willing to help and advise. His technical knowlege is outstanding.

If you're changing it yourself then don't forget the special prodedure, and if PS Lewis starts posting on this thread just ignore everything he says

Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry about the tongue in cheek comments!!

I actually don't have the car yet, so can't read the manual, that's why I was asking for some advice.

Yep, 5w-30 or 5w-40 is the ticket.

Popular ones are, Silkolene PRO S 5w-40 and Motul 300v 5w-40. Motul 8100 X-cess 5w-40 is also a decent oil as is Fuchs Titan Supersyn SL 5w-40. These are all proper synthetic oils being pao or pao/ester basestocks.

Cheers
