Default Any ideas what's wrong?

While I was changing the oil last weekend, i noticed a load of grease all over the inside of the under tray.
It's been suggested its the inner CV boots, but i've just checked, and it looks like it leaking from the gearbox where the driveshaft enters.
Took a snap on my mobile

Any ideas what's wrong?

Cheers

Driveshaft seals? Think its not uncommon for them to need replacing

Dont panic mate,

I had this on my MY00. I had the cats replaced with a straight pipe without the heat shielding, the excess heat causes the grease in the driveshaft boot to turn to liquid and it runs out.

There is a up-rated grease that you can get from the dealer that will cure the problem.

Glad to hear it, it does figure, it's on the drivers side next to the exhaust, hadnt thought it could be that.
Mines a MY00 aswell.
What's the procedure for fixing it?
Still got the original downpipe in place, although it is being replaced with a de-cat one on wednesday.

Thanks for the help

In my case it was drive to dealership hand over some pounds and let them get on with it.

My guess is that it involves breaking the joint removing the boot and refilling with higher melting point grease followed by re-assembly.

If you can hold off a few days my motor is back in the same dealership - I can get you the details and the spec (part no) for the grease used.
