A Z4 is the perfect upgrade for the '93 car. I have one in mine. You can run them without the need for Octane Booster as they are the closest to UK cars of the Japanese market ECUs. They also give a slight increase in power (around 10bhp).
Mine also has a "ScoobyECU" chip at the moment (16.11 psi), though I am about to sell both the ECU and the chip separately on a well known auction site
