Default Boost

I have just fitted a boost gauge on my 97 turbo wrx import and its boosting at about 1.2 bar. I have been reading posts that say they should be boosting at 0.95 bar. The car is standard and there is no boost controller on so is this normal. The only reason I am asking is because it sometimes hesertates when realy pushing it. Its just had new leads, plugs HT leads and MAF sensor.

Thanks

No the exhaust is totally standard and its not leaking anywere. It feels very violent when hesertating, like someone is switching the fuel on and off. I have read that there is a some sort of overboost protection. Could this be it as it only does it when booting it. If I stop for 10 min it will be fine for another couple of mins then go agian.

Help please cos this is really bugging me now.
