Don,t mate,They dont run well without a re-map.Mine is a MY01 and was the original test vehicle for K & N ,s Typhoon kit . Great sound ran awful towards 3 figs ie detonation through it running way too lean....result would be engine damage, took it off and now use a good quality cotton gauze panel filter such as "green". The Scoob air box is quite efficient and has good cold air supply. If a re map then would be ok, but fueling would need to be adjusted too, hope it helps.

Yip know a guy with an STi 8, did exactly that. Had K&N typhoon fitted,, then fuel to air ratio was checked and the car was found to be running lean. His car is now mapped.
No problems with the maf as yet. K&N's are usually ok

I have the APS cold Air Kit Fitted. It definatley needed a remap which has been done. Running circa 400bhp on an Ecutek remap with other mods 8000 hard miles and no problems yet other than big fuel bills.
My advice- Get a Cold Air Kit but definatly get it mapped
Hope that Helps

I would advise against it and just get a better panel filter. I had an induction sytem on my car when it went in for a remap etc. the guys told me it would be better with the original unit on as the maf and it was experiencing heat when stationary. notice how rally cars don't have cone filters on!
