Question Fuel Pump Question.....

HI,
I have recently noticed a sort of continuous buzzzzing nise coming from the rear of my V5 STi.. it sounds and probably is the fuel pump.
When i purchased the car i was told that the car had a modified fuelpump fitted to it... so my question is basically do modified fuelpumps make a buzzing noise even when the car is running - continuously...?

Well i can tell you that my standard stiV pump started buzzing so i replaced it with one from a version 6, its now nice & quiet, i suspect that even uprated pumps dont buzz until they are on there way out IMO

I think the walboro ones do whirr away a bit. Mine does!

Noticed my pump has gone too noisy recently. It normally makes a buzzing noise for five seconds when I turn the ignition on, then goes quiet. Over the last few days it's been loud for up to two minutes after the engine has started. Sounds like it's sucking fresh air!

I've got the car booked in for a rear suspension strut swap on Thursday, so I've asked them to check this out as well. Will let you know what they say.

Cheers

Anders
