Default Knock Sensor

Hi

Just had a new crank put in my import 96 RA, the engine is now running fine however the engine warning light has come on.

I have now done diagnostics on it and the code is 22 - kock sensor

I reset the ecu last night but the light has come on again today and recorded fault 22 again.

Can anyone give some advice on this, things i can try to solve the problem.

Is it true that if the sensor was broken the car would not start?

Cheers
Griff

the knock sensor detects det / knock or pinking as most people know it, and the ecu will retard the timing if it detected this.

It is bolted to the engine block under the inlet manifold / intercooler.

Either the sensor is faulty or they have failed to reconnect it when they did the engine work.. or the earth is deteriated to the engine etc..

check it is connected, run an earth lead from battery negative to engine as an extra earth.. if still the same replace the sensor..

it will not effect it starting.
