Unhappy Car cutting out for 1 second

I have 97 UK turbo and it has recently developed a strange problem. If im accelerating hard , let off throttle then straight back on the car loses all power, the engine literally dies for 1 second then back to normal. Any ideas please?

could it be fuel cut? there is a good chance that your boost is spiking under those conditions

This may sound odd, but could it be a bad earth? Does the dash go dead (ie, clocks go to zero) when the engine cuts out?

A friend had a problem with his WRX cutting out at high revs, and cured the problem by changing the earth lead.

Andy - I have straight through centre pipe, firestorm backbox and forge VTA no other mods.

Dave - No other electrical problems, dash stays on and ive checked the earth from the battery it seems fine.

Thanks guys

It's just done it again but this time i didn't let off, just a full throttle overtake and lost power for a second which was interesting. Checked all connectors etc. under the bonnet. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately not I gather the problem could be boost spikes but I haven't changed anything on the car recently

as per my earlier post it does seem like boost spiking. Have you used a different fuel, octane booster etc? now the weather is getting colder the air will be more dense as well (although I dont think this would really cause spiking)

It sounds like a boost cutout senario.

I am based near Cheltenham if you want me to have a look.

Pm me or e-mail me if you want.

Cheers
