TDO5 assistance.....
Recently fitted a tdo5 to my year 2000 uk classic, along with remapped ecu, did a trackday yesterday, and needless to say it all got rather warm.... and when it's hot, there's a very nasty sounding metalic rattle coming from the turbo, checked all the nuts and bolts in the area, and also statrted the car from cold this evening, and it's still got the rattle, only now from cold, however, whilst it was running earlier, i got hold of the actuator arm, and the rattle lessened, which makes me think it's actuator/wastegate related..... anyone got any ideas..?? do i need a new actuator, or can i shorten the arm on the one i have to increase the pressure on the wastegate to stop the rattle..... all thought welcomed..
Cheers.

Actuators are tricky to get and expensive. The one off a TD04 may well fit. I think I overheated the diapragm or spring in mine as you could pull the wastegate closed and then after the first time on boost the wastegate would not quite return to the original position which killed spool up and you could hear it rattling at idle. Tightening it didn't help as it still had some pre-load but was "sticky".

They are all about half a bar from what I've seen. Restrictor fiddling or boost control adjustment if you have one may be necessary if you can't adjust the acutator to give the same boost delivery.

John, just been out in the garage this morning and fitted the tdo4 actuator onto the tdo5, it meant welding up the hole in the end and re-drilling, but no bother, fitted, and adjusted so that it puts slight tension on the wastegate, and wow, what a difference, it now boost smoothly, and a lot less jerky than it ever did with the old actuator...... i reckon it was on it's way out before the trackday, had you not suggested it, i woudn't have even considered trying the 04 one, so, many thanks. This is what Snet is all about...
