Default Engine wont go on box. Quick help needed :)

As title really, just refitting my engine on to the gearbox, i can get the 2 studs at the bottom of the box in, i think it goes onto the splines ok too, just wont go that last little bit, i think its the release bearing not engaging, any one got any advice? I've been trying not to be too rough with it

Havent done it myself but have seen it done.

Have you tried turning the crank with a spanner/socket?

you normaly need to wiggle it up and around....

I had to tilt the gearbox up & bit so that the engine mounts (studs) would clear the subframe.
Just check the studs on the engine mounts, have they located correctly into the subframe/crossmember.

I found it easier to have the release bearing pulled back onto the gearbox casing, the release bearing forked was pushed forward & held in position with a bit of rope/wire etc.

Then with some little effort (pushing & wiggiling) the engine came up flush with the gearbox.

Remove the rope/wire then pull back the fork, the bearing should click into the clutch.

Cheers for the replies guys, i was doing all of the above and it was the same box and engine going back together. I eventually got pretty mad and just before i was going to lift the engine out again to check the clutch alignment it popped in. Result!
