Default Oil Again

Right am confused now. Got a 96 WRX with 280 ps standard. I have bought Castrol RS 10w 60w. But need a 1 ltr to fill as 4 ltrs isnt enuf. Spoke to halfords who said they only do 0 40 and said this is what my car should run on. Spoke to another local show who said it should be 10 40 and 10 60 castrol doesnt exist.
Will the 10 60 be good for my car as I dont what to put anything in which will cause damage.

Thanks
Mark

10-60 will be fine, so long as you let it warm up properly before thrashing it. This will take about 10 minutes longer than it takes the water to heat up. Thinner oils will heat up a little more quickly.

Don't mix different brands/weights of oils, unless it's an emergency, and then change it asap.

The minimum weight I would run, if you don't drive it "really" hard would be 10-40. For a really hard driven car I would suggest a good quality 10 to 15/ 50 to 60 oil.

I recommend 10w-50 or 15w-50.

Look in "group buys" for a carriage FREE offer on some decent ones.

Cheers
