Default Annoying problem

On my UK MY'99 Impreza turbo as soon as you get past 4K revs when accelerating the car holds back and judders violently. If it doesnt judder it just seems to lose all power. Its fine up until 4k although it does feel a little slower then it used to. Havent got a boost gauge in so I dont know what boost its running. Tried cleaning the boost solenoid and the MAF wire but this has no effect. Tried to reset the ECU today but dont think I did it correctly as the light would not stop flashing even after about half hours driving. The light reports no fault. Any ideas or should I just take it to Subaru, bearing in mind im skint at the moment? Also I've got a Zero Sports plug and play ECU which is mapped for higher boost etc will this work in a UK car or will I need to swap wires on some pins??? Cheers.

I would say your plugs are on their way out but someone will be along soon to say I am wrong.

It is due for its 45000 mile service, cam belt and all so i'll get it booked in and see what its like with new plugs and stuff. Subaru said I may need a modified tensioner on my belt which will cost me around another 100 quid if it hasnt got one on already, is this true or are they trying to get more cash out of me?

?
If it needed one shouldn't it of had one as standard? Throw that one at them!

As for the plug & play, it should be ok. The wire change IIRC is for JDM scoobys not UK one's. Wouldn't use it until you have sorted this problem out though and I recommend you hold off the boost also. Don't want it going BANG!!!!

Good luck
