Unhappy detonation problem

Hi all wondering if someone could help me with a few problems i am having with my imported MY95 wrx version 2 sti i have had the car for about 3 years i have covered about 40,000 miles no problems at all. when i first got the car it was a low milage 38,000 totally minted standard example, i heard all the horror story`s about the imports going pop so after a few mods being fse motorsport fuel pump, blitz ner spec r exhaust, howard and scott de-cat down pipe, blitz iduction kit, arc dump valve. I got dastech to fit and map a unichip! after that was done it was running 1.35 bar of boost and appeared to be running really well! having had all this on my car for over a year i was looking for a bit more power so i fitted a pace front mounted intercooler and radiator kit and fitted a cold air intake up to my induction kit and made a sheild between my engine and induction kit! my next purchase was a hks a/f knock amp which picks up high level of detonation breifly when on full throttle and when i change gear. i have even fitted a blitz boost controller and have turned the boost down to stock level and it still pick up the detonation!
Any idea`s anyone

My knocklink would light up on gear changes above 5500rpm , it was put down to normal engine noise . Mine did it on the standard ecu and a motec .

thanks man do you think i should be concerned about the split second high level detonation that appears just after full throttle at about 4000 revs then its fine through the rest of the revs till i change gear it will pick up a lower level of det

Sounds like your boost is too high, do you also get det in gear ie 4th at around the 5kish mark on wot?
See if you can decrease the boost to around 1.2bar, then see if you suffer the same problem.

i think maybe i am just being paranoid with having the knock amp or should there be no detonation picked up at all and could my engine be getting damaged with what it is picking up just now

my knocklink lights up like a christmas tree whan i change gear at high revs, it's engine noise. Although lighting up when you come on boost is different i think.
