Default the dash brake light

In my last subaru the ((!)) light on the dash used to come on now and again. I thought it was faulty but turned out I was needing brake fluid.

Anyway I am having a similar problem with my current subaru. When the car is cold the light comes on for a while. Sometimes it eventually goes off or if I switch the car off when its warmed up and turn it back on again the light goes out.

My first impression was I needed brake fluid. I check, but it isnt that. I had all 4 wheels off today and had a look at the brakes, but couldnt find anything unusual.

Does anyone have any ideas ?

Is the float in the brake fluid sticking?

Either that or your handbrake wire is loose or broken - it's a single green wire that goes up the right of the transmission tunnel.
