should all be able to be done from the top of the engine to be honest.
on the left (drivers side) of the intercooler, is the turbo, on it there is a heatshield. if it hasnt been taken off before it might be a bit of hassle.. so make sure you've got some WD40 around
with the headshield off you can see the turbo, and the exhaust pipe (downpipe) leading down away from the engine bay, just unbolt this from the turbo end, and you should be able to get enough space to remove the old gasket and put a new one in.
when you start back up there might be a bit of smoke from the burning wd40 though
i'm sure someone else on here can advise you better than i can?

Heat sheild is a bugger to get off sometimes, as some bolts are hidden between the sheild & the inner wing.
Turbo nuts - 3 can be difficult to get to - others are easy.
Don't forget the bolt into the gearbox that supports the downpipe.
A good socket set & ring / rachet spanners is all you'll need to DIY.
4 - 6 hours max in a home enviroment garage (limited space, working on car ramps etc)
