Default Swapping over Engines

Im after some advice on swapping over engines, i think best i start off with a little background, i have a legacy 2.0 turbo 1993 model i think it is, its done over 250k miles and the next service is going to cost a small fortune, after seeing some 2nd hand engine go for much less obviously logic tells me this is best thing to do?

My question is do i need ecu and keys to match up to the engine or doesnt it matter? Where would be best place to source a decent 2.0 turbo 4cam engine and what should i look out for with these engines?

Any tips or hints when swapping engines would be a great help too!

Thank you
