i have a 2002 wrx with

tdo5 18g turbo
sti injectors
sti intercooler
uprated fuel pump
full de-cat
megan manifold
aps cold air induction kit

which should be around 360-370 bhp. If i fitted a front mount intercooler and a avcr boost controler would it give me a big increase in power also after fitting a front mount would i need another remap cheers MOMO

 

Have you RR'd the car yet? If not do so. IIRC the 18g gives 360-380 so if the RR says that then you won't get much more with the FMIC and AVCR. You really think 360 is not enough???

i would definately get the car mapped again, i have a 20g turbo and i swapped from an STI 8 intercooler to a fmic and after a map the car pulls MUCH harder at 1.3bar than what the tmic did at 1.4bar. dont go expecting power figures!!!! as you are likely for a big fall if you ge the car on the rollers

 

Is it right that a front mount can actually slow you down unless you are running really big bhp ( 400 plus) as the cold air has so much further to travel through the pipework?

 

Steve is correct. Don't guess at power figures unless you are experienced like Bob R etc. There are too many peeps on here that do just that but are afraid to find the truth.

Interesting about the FMIC Steve, have you an explanation for this?

the bhp was estimated by andy f when he maped it. So i would get no benifit from a front mount cheers MOMO

 

I'm happy to hear that after a lot of fighting to fit STI8 Intercooler to MY98. Still waiting for my STI8 scoop from ETS-racing! I hope it didnt lost on delivery
