Default what do you think won , P1 or STi type RA ?

we had a few of the cars out the other night and the type RA we ve been working on ended up pitted against a nice P1 , what do you think won (private track of course) ?

Well the P1 driver didnt win ! the type RA won by a few car lenghts (about 3-4)
we were happy with this !
Any one know for sure the power outputs of both these cars when std? interesting to compare their stats on paper in the light of this outcome.

If I 'worked' on a Robin Relinant for long enough, I could probally make it beat my push bike.

I think they both started with the same standard power 276bhp.

The P1 has higher gear ratios, so not a massive surprise its slower off the line.

Hope your "work" didnt cost you too much.

Id hope a type RA would be the quicker, its 30kg lighter and shorter gear ratio's, plus with the DCCD it should be putting more power on the road, 3-4 lenghts isnt much as these cars should do that out of the box anyway.

speaking as a STI RA owner, the RA will knock spots off a P1. It's more powerful, lighter and handles better.

The Tath's decision is final on this one i'm afraid - close this thread, thankyou please

lol i thought this might put cat amongst pigeons so to speak , we really were unsure how it d do against the P1 but we very pleased with things , the Ra was only pahse 1 tuned with a couple of other bits but no quite up to a phase 2 tuned state , although we re going ahead now with fmic , hard pipes , a change in induction kit (but sticking with Apexi MAF sensor ) to the Quikshift stainless steel Taipan II CAI also going to lighten the car a tad more too aswell as wrap and fit de-catted down pipe and up the boost a tad more after that.
The P1 had quite extensive tuning but the owner didnt difulge details too much !

It's not more powerful run on the same fuel, but the other points stand.

speaking as a p1 owner, its fairly obvious that a standard Ra should have a slight edge over a standard P1. but when all said and done it depends on the muppet planting the throttle, even in a straight line.

the Ra owner will definetly spend more on dental work during his tenure of ownership though

I own a P1, and have driven an RA, wouldnt swap.

Both nice cars, but prefer the less frenetic gear changing and suspension of the P1.

The P1 performance is still very impressive. It may not be the quickest Impreza, but as an all round package it takes some beating.

I thought the only difference between a P1 and a standard Sti is that the P1 has had some styling mods done ?
