Enough pennies saved up for some mods.

Enough pennies saved up for some mods.
Right I have some money now saved up to spend on my 04 WRX to make it go a bit quicker.
Was thinking about reliability so I dont really want to go to silly with the mods, and break my Gearbox or engine. And I know I should have bought a STi, but I couldnt afford one at the time.
I already have in place a decat midsection and a 4" backbox, and was thinking of putting the following mods on.
Decat Uppipe
Decat Downpipe
Ecutek remap
Uprated Fuel pump
The question is would I need to change the Fuel pump or would I get away with the standard pump. And the other question is would I need to change my standard panel filter for a uprated one. And are there anything else I should add.

As above but I'd just get the standard headers ported (Harvey does them exchange for £100 IIRC..?) these are supposed to be just as good if not better at this level. Agree that for this the std fuel system on 03> cars is more that adiquate.
Swapping the oem air filter panel for a green/KN is also worth while for £40. With the other engine mods you've mentioned you're scoob will be a totally different animal..!
After that adding solid rear droplinks and uprated rear 22mm ARB to dial out most of the inherent (sp?) understeer is well worth the £100 and easy to DIY.
Then a decent set of brake pads and braided hoses and that should give you a real fast road motor..!
Just get all the engine mods done before remap for optimum results.

So my standard fuel pump is upto the job.
Im keeping the standard turbo(Td04), and i know that its limited to around 280bhp, Which im more then happy with. But if I add uprated headers how much torque would I be looking at.
Also what are the best headers and value for money £££££

Yep, no need for the fuel pump with that, you will have done exactly the same as me engine wise with that lot, and you know how my car feels! I've still got standard headers, but after reading Andy F's tests, then ported standard headers are the best option with this set up/turbo. Definetly think of getting rear ARB and drop links, then some eibachs, it will be a totally different car then!!

The reason im getting the map and decatting the rest of my exhaust system was that after going out in your car made me realise that the set-up on your car was perfect the power was just right and the suspension was awesome, The only thing I would add to your car to make it perfect would be a big set of brakes.

Hi Jon,
Good to see you're back with a Scooby didn't think you'd be able to stay away for too long. Nice to hear that turbo's still giving good service.
Motor's going really well, lots more mods since the last time we met. Modding's a slippery downward slope you know, once you're on it, there's no turning back
Good luck with yours.

My advice would be to choose the (EcuTeK) mapper first and then work together
If I was a Mapper and someone turned up at my door with a bag of mods which didn't work well together I'd think about staying in bed !!
I chose Bob Rawle
Midlife.....

Hi
I have an 05WRX.
I did a lot of reasearch - before fitting an AEM cold air induction kit, Magnex cat back exhaust system and a Miltek High flow sports cat.
I then took the car to Powerstation at Tewksbury.
I took along a Walbro fuel pump - which I wanted them to fit - but Rich suggested that on the 05 car this is not necessary.
They remapped the car and I was pleasantly surprised with the 271.9 BHP after mapping!
Cheers
Steve
