Cool Are Strut braces really worthwhile??

Hi guys

I'm just looking for some opinions from people who fitted strut braces to their STI. I have a 2003 STI and have been debating whether strut braces could actually enhance the already brilliant handling of the car??? Can you feel the difference?

Would it be worthwhile to fit front and back strut braces?

Thanks
Ronan

Well its hard to say. I have a front carbon fibre strut brace fitted when I had my Prodrive springs fitted. All I can say the combination now makes for better cornering at high speeds with less body roll (Probably more to do with the spring kit than the strut brace). Not sure what benfits you would see on the standard STi.

The new-age chassis was quoted on launch to be 200% more rigid than a classic. It is highly unlikely you will be able to tell any perceivable benefit from bracing until you have gone through various other stages of suspension modification, where the rigidity of the suspension starts to have an effect on the chassis.

If you think your STi handles well now, try a Whiteline 22mm adjustable ARB and some solid droplinks. I have mine set on the hardest setting and it suits me just fine, but with stiffer springs you'd have the option of dropping down to the mid or soft setting. After that you may want to do the Prodrive springs, and then look into the front ARB with links and possibly anti-lift kit. Only then would I consider spending hard-earned on bracing.
